Sold Out Performances - Les Misérables:
Sherborne enjoyed remarkable success in December 2025 with four sold-out performances of the Joint School musical, Les Misérables: School Edition. Fifty-six pupils from Sherborne Boys, Sherborne Girls, and Sherborne Prep came together to stage this iconic production, creating a powerful celebration of talent, imagination, and collaboration across the Schools.
The cast delivered deeply moving and assured portrayals of the principal characters, including Jean Valjean, Javert, Marius, Enjolras, Cosette, Éponine, and Fantine. Their performances captured both the emotional depth and dramatic intensity of Victor Hugo’s world with maturity, conviction, and confidence well beyond their years.
Musically, the production was outstanding, supported by an exceptional orchestra whose rich, dynamic playing brought the score to life and provided a thrilling foundation for the drama unfolding on stage.
This year’s production also shone a spotlight on the exceptional contributions of the design and technical teams. From the construction of the barricades to the seamless execution of complex scene changes, the stage crew’s skill and attention to detail elevated the entire performance, lending it a polished and sophisticated quality that impressed audiences throughout the run.
A couple of our main actors were interviewed about the experiences of being part of the Musical. Nenad M who played Thénardier was asked to sum up his entire experience in one word, here is what he had to say…
That’s a good question, I would probably choose ‘fun’, because even though it’s been a long process and it’s been a lot of work, I have gone back to the House every night thinking, that was fun - I had a good time! I spent time with friends, and it was all worth it in the end. Everyone has worked from all the schools incredibly well together.”
Jean Valjean, also commented:
“I think it’s great that all three schools are mixed in working together for this play, as I have got to know so many people… The skills I have picked up acting, whilst singing are really going to stay with me as I move on towards opera performance, hopefully. I think it’s a really brilliant skill to have picked up now.”
