Sherborne Boys celebrates another year of outstanding GCSE success
Following the excellent A Level achievements announced last week, Sherborne Boys is proud to congratulate its Fifth Form on a fantastic set of GCSE results this summer. With two thirds of all entries graded 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A), and 42% at grades 9-8, the boys have demonstrated impressive academic strength across the board. Notably, 1 in 5 of all grades were at the very highest level, grade 9.
There were a great many individual successes this year, with 23 boys achieving an average grade of an 8 or more. Notable amongst them were Angus E and Alex H, who achieved 9x9 grades; Henry F and Kotaro T, who achieved 8x9s; and William P, who achieved 7x9s. In total, 9 boys achieved ten or more grades at 9-7 (about 9% of the year) - a clear reflection of both ability and determination.
This cohort has balanced rigorous academic study with a fantastic range of pursuits – from leading performances in House plays and school productions, to gold Duke of Edinburgh, plus many who compete at regional and national level in a range of different sports. They move into the Sixth Form as confident, capable individuals, ready for the next stage of their academic journey.
Headmaster, Simon Heard, commented:
What I am most proud of is that our boys have achieved these excellent grades alongside a myriad of other Co-Curricular activities. The development of character is so important to us here at Sherborne and this talented group are a great example of the rounded young men we want to send out into the world. We are excited to see what they will achieve in the two years’ time, and congratulate them and their superb teachers on a fabulous set of results.
As this cohort reflects on their successes, we look forward to welcoming them into the Sixth Form in September, where they will benefit not only from the challenges and opportunities of A Level study, but also from the many possibilities offered through our unique partnership with Sherborne Girls.
