Cricketers follow in the footsteps of their heroes…
Sherborne Boys’ 1st XI cricketers had a wonderful experience on Tuesday as they travelled to the Utilita Bowl in Southampton - home to Hampshire CCC, Southern Brave and an international ground - for a special training session.
The trip was our prize from the Ruth Strauss Foundation for raising more money than any other school, university or cricket club for the charity in 2025. We were delighted to be hosted by Georgia Adams, captain of Hampshire and Southern Brave, and she gave the boys a real insight into the life of a professional cricketer before putting them through their paces in the indoor training facility. We also toured the dressing rooms, had a stroll on the pitch and watched Hampshire 2nd XI take on Yorkshire. All in all, it was a brilliant day and the boys particularly enjoyed Georgia’s 360-degree batting challenge, which was won by Fergus O’C (L6c).
We are very grateful to Georgia and to the Ruth Strauss Foundation for this fantastic opportunity. Our next Cricket Week for the foundation starts on Saturday 20th June, and more details can be found at: Ruth Strauss Foundation - Sherborne Boys
